Key Points: Amendment 28th
Opposing Sides
- Article 1: Guns should only be available to those that are over the age of 21 and have a stable set of mind, and should be checked on every year.
- Article 2:The goal of this amendment is to eradicate gun violence nationwide in the United States of America. The number of gun killings in the US is so high that in the year 2020, there were 45,222 fatalities in the US alone. In only a single year, that number rose by 14%. If you don't believe it is an issue, it is absurd that there was a 14 percent increase in just one year. The sheer number of school shootings—yes, they were "mad," yes, they were—but the fact that they were allowed to buy a gun in that state is outrageous—is another justification for this rule. In total, 113 school shootings have occurred in 2022.
- Article 3:They claim that this will nullify the second amendment, yet it still stands; it is simply better protected. You can still possess weapons. It is just a tiny bit better safeguarded thanks to this change. There were no automatic weapons available when the founding fathers were debating these amendments; instead, they used muskets, which took a very long time to reload and fire a shot. Another opposing perspective is that automobiles cause fatalities. Why not also outlaw them? This is absurd because, unlike firearms, cars were not designed with the intention of inflicting harm on people.
